A Message from Our President
MJ Optical was founded by Michael Hagge, and I in 1965 as a two-person operation in the basement of our small home in Omaha, Nebraska. From that meager beginning, MJ Optical developed into the successful company it is today.
Originally operating under the name Shamrock Optical, we quickly outgrew our humble beginnings and moved to a larger laboratory location. The lab known as Shamrock was sold in 1986. Michael and our oldest son, Marty, re-entered the industry in 1988 with a new lab named MJ Optical. MJ Optical is a family-owned and -operated, independent optical laboratory and one of the nation's top 25 labs.
Upon Michael's untimely death, I assumed the leadership position in the company and—along with five of my seven children (Marty, Morrie, Michael, Michelle and Matthew)—continued the family tradition of excellence in the field of lens manufacturing.
We are well aware that there are many options to consider when choosing a lab. MJ Optical is proud of our ongoing commitment to meet and exceed the expectations of our customers when it comes to friendly, knowledgeable customer service and providing premium products at a reasonable price.
MJ Optical now has the capability of producing digitally-enhanced lenses (free-form). With this technology, each lens is unique. It is calculated for the individual patient taking into account the prescription, pupil position, and the 3D shape of the selected frame. We also have a state-of-the-art anti-reflective coating facility on-site.

Net 30 – Volume Discounts paid by the 15th of the following month
Cancellation of Orders
In order to meet your demands for timely service, orders in process (passed the Generator) can not be cancelled.
Credits on Returned Goods
All credits must be returned with both the original invoice and the reorder invoice and an explanation for reordering. Credits are calculated at list price less volume discounts at the time of return. Full credits are issued on lab errors. Doctor error credit are 25% Phone error credits are 50%. Phone orders are repeated making for a shared responsibility. No credits issued after 30 days.
Regrinding & Re-Edging
MJ is NOT responsible for breakage. There is a $1.50 handling charge. Due to lack of demand and higher manufacturing costs, the price of glass products continue to rise.
